In August of 2010, Eric Holmberg (Director of TAG) spoke at the “Go, Stand, Speak” Evangelism Summit.
His first sermon dealt with – as he described it – one of his favorite topics in the Bible: The Kingdom of God. In this stirring message Eric uses a few key scripture texts of to open up a great truth that has been heavily suppressed by the “viruses” of dualism and radical dispensational thinking: that Jesus brought God’s kingdom with Him during the time of His tabernacling on earth and then opened it up to His progeny through His cross, resurrection and enthronement: that Jesus NOW IS the LORD and the ruler over the kings of the earth (Rev. 1:5).
In his second message Eric took on the objection that is often raised concerning Calvinism and a monergistic understanding of salvation: if it is up to God whether someone gets saved or not, then what is our responsibility? More specifically he addresses the use of apologetics in evangelism, whimsically titling this sermon: You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink…but you can make him thirsty.
