“I’m a little embarrassed by how crude the production values are (the technology available for the average person at the time was very limited), but enough of our fans and friends kept asking for it, so here it is…in all its earnest glory.” Eric Holmberg, The Apologetics Group
“I know, it’s only rock ‘n’ roll,” the Stones famously sung, “but I like it.” And so do hundreds of millions of fans around the world. Coupled with modern technology and its global reach, these fans have made rock the most popular and culturally influential music form in history.
But most of its fans never stop to think about the metaphysical – the spiritual – implications of their music and the lifestyle it largely promotes. Is it “only” rock ‘n’ roll?
Rock ‘n’ Roll: A Search for God, produced in 1981 first as a live seminar and then turned into a video with the help of the Christian Broadcasting Network, was the first production of its kind to explore the deeper meaning behind the music. Ultimately it was seen by hundreds of thousands of people around the world and many lives were changed as a result.
Special note: Due to the era in which in was produced as well as the less than optimum quality of the archival copies from which this DVD was authored, the quality of both the video and sound, while still perfectly watchable, falls well short of the pristine, high definition video we are used to today.
