“…a provocative look at where our country’s embrace of the LGBT agenda is taking us….Will America and the Church wake up in time?”  Eric Holmberg, The Apologetics Group

Proposed “hate crimes” legislation already passed by the U.S. Congress and signed into law by President Obama, represents the most serious threat yet to two of our most fundamental freedoms.
Under S.1105, referred to as the “Matthew Shepard Act,” acts of crime committed against members of certain protected classes – including those who identify themselves by their “actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity” – would warrant more intense prosecution and stiffer penalties than the very same acts committed against other persons.  Undoubtedly – a violation of our 14th Amendment right of equal protection under the law.
But “hate crime laws” such as S.1105 are being pushed by well-funded homosexual lobbyists because they will strip us of a second, even more fundamental freedom – the freedom of religious expression.

Almost identical laws in other countries and in cities within the United States have been used to criminalize expression of Biblical views regarding homosexual behavior.
Family Research Council (FRC) has produced an excellent DVD that exposes “hate crimes” legislation as the dangerous tool of homosexual lobbyists that it is.  Titled “Hate Crimes Laws: Censoring the Church and Silencing Christians” and hosted by FRC’s president, Tony Perkins, the program features shocking examples of how hate crime laws have been used to trample free speech, lead to arrests, and censor speech.
Among those featured on the 40-minute presentation are Dr. D. James Kennedy; Ake Green, a Swedish pastor arrested for preaching against homosexuality; members of the Philadelphia 11; Christine Sneeringer, an ex-lesbian; Dr. Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission; and Pastor Danny Nalliah, of Catch the Fire Ministries (who was prosecuted under hate crimes laws in Australia).
“Censoring the Church and Silencing Christians” is an excellent small group or classroom discussion tool.
